Skill : Flash Development

Flash is the heart of Lapin Blanc uk. The swf file format is really multipurpose and can be displayed on several devices (computers, phones, and basically any electronic device with a graphic interface). It gives us the possibility to work on different types of projects, online (websites, ads, games, tools, webdocumentaries, etc.) and offline (cd-roms, games, multitouch kiosks, etc.).

 

Dynamic Flash

We use ActionScript 3 to code. This is the last version of Adobe's Flash scripting language and it is now compliant with the ECMA-262 code standard. We try as much as we can to display dynamically handled content, wich means that in almost all of our projects the datas are stored outside of the swf. It can be in a database or in a simple xml file that you manage yourself or through the CMS (content management system) we've developed with the Lapin Blanc Collective. We try to push in that direction so taht our clients can manage their content on their own. Our CMS is build using php, flash and xml and is very easy to set up anywhere to dispatch the content (universal languages and not database).

 

Flash vs. html 5

Flash was in the middle of a media-storm last year because people thought (once again) that they had to choose one technology for everything. Apple started this war saying that the Html 5 would replace Flash easily and for the sake of everybody. It was shown later that Apple had interest in the story, trying to sell html 5 editing software to the big media companies (video and press among others). After a few weeks the whole thing poped out, youtube went back to flash for a while and Apple finally (last winter) allowed people to use Flash to create apps for the iphone and ipad. For us there is no war. Flash and Html 5 are two different tools that we can use to create smaching projects. And that's it. We're specialized in Flash but if we want create something in html 5 we have the right partners to work with us and create the perfect product. Technology is not the goal, just the means to get it.

 

Flash, but not only

Our skills are rather diversified because we want to be able to offer the best for our clients. When we can't provide in Lapin Blanc the right skill we ask one of our partners to wrok with us. The good thing with network production is that we can have a different specialist for every need rather than serve the same soup to all our clients. We don't hide our partners and chose to mix our networks and contacts rather than pretend that everybody is working from inside the company.
